Fruits Of Our Labor
We are eight people who
have a heart for Africa. Four of us have
been to African countries serving as
construction workers, teachers or
medical staff. While we are here, back
home, we have asked ourselves “Now what
can we do?” And we came up with a simple
answer: WE CAN SING! So, that’s what we
do!
Famine in Ethiopia
In June we did a fundraiser concert
in Kittery and the very next day we were
informed of a famine in Ethiopia where
we know many of the children. We
immediately sent the money that was
donated to Project Mercy to provide food
for the starving children - no doubt it
was an answer to their prayers.
You haven’t experienced “how long, how
wide, how deep” prayer can reach until
you’ve heard African children singing
and praying. We sing for the children
who are hungry - that they may be fed.
A Deserving Student
In 2000, a fifth grader in
Ethiopia stayed after school to hang out
with us because when he went home his
alcoholic, Muslim father beat him for
going to a Christian school. But he
never lost his faith or his
determination to get an education. We
found him seven years later, living on
his own - and number one in his senior
class! We paid for a summer computer
class in which he took a double class
load and made five A’s and one B. He has
now successfully completed his first
university semester under dire
circumstances (lack of water and food,
difficult studies with little access to
a library, roommates who hate him
because of his beliefs). A computer
would be very useful for his studies and
the Lord has provided a way for us to
get a used laptop, new battery and flash
drive for this very deserving student.
Kindergarten Furniture
Dee Donalson,
Doctor of Education, and sweet, caring
missionary, has sold her house and all
her possessions in order to live in
Ethiopia, teach English and train
teachers. This fall, along with her
university teaching, Dee plans to
establish the first kindergarten in
Hosanna, Ethiopia. Lost and Found has
contributed two large, round tables and
benches for her kindergarten class.
Children Of The
Nations
Lost and Found member,
Nancy Kilpatrick, is working for
Children Of The Nations recruiting
medical volunteers and establishing
clinics in Uganda, Malawi, Sierra Leone
the the Dominican Republic. It’s a big,
important job and we are happy to
support her with a portion of our
concert income/donations.
